A busy Fall for CAST and customersPredictions of dire straits for independent IP providers continue, but here at CAST business is growing. Our focus on general purpose IP cores -- a broad range between commodity and star IP -- seems to be paying off. The slowdown in design starts has certainly affected us, but sales continue and we now count over 200 core transactions to 150 different customers. This fall we're expanding in three areas: new cores, new relationships, and new platform support. Upcoming cores include new MPEG and additional JPEG 2000 functions, additions to our encryption family (MD5 and RSA), and 1 GHz Ethernet MAC. New relationships we expect to announce will have us providing
IP for the reference design boards of a major electronics distributor,
and signing deals with additional FPGA and semiconductor vendors. Platforms are a growing trend -- for good reason -- and we'll be
supporting some of the leading efforts. AMBA bus support for ARM
processors is an option for more and more of our cores, and we've
recently joined OCP-IP and are working with Sonics and their SOCworks
platform. We also expect to be supplying processors and other We're pretty excited about these upcoming announcements -- and the IP business as we see it -- and look forward to sharing more of the CAST story with you as the news rolls out. Hal Barbour, President Taiwan EDA & Test Expo News:
